As Harry Potter fans celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first book being released, here we have 20 magical photos taken on a road trip in Scotland, all are either film locations of the Harry Potter movies or places that inspired the books written by JK Rowling. To take in the beautiful scenery it takes around 3 days to travel around the locations in the Highlands and Edinburgh, but all within a few hundred miles.
Pictured is The Hogwarts Express, which is actually the Jacobite steam train by West Coast Railways which runs between Fort William and Mallaig twice a day in peak seasons, the 84 mile round trip is described as the greatest railway journey in the world. Costing only £35 for an adult standard return, or if you want a first class ticket its £59 for the return making for an exciting day out with four hours on the train with a short stop in Mallaig.
