The Astoria Nightclub in Portsmouth, Hampshire regularly have over 2000 people enjoying a night out, but take customer safety very seriously and have increased security measures after national drink spiking issues have been reported.
The club has increased the use of drug detection dogs checking every customer, along with 64 ultra-high definition cameras covering both inside and outside the venue. They have also introduced anti-spiking cups with lids to make punters feel safe. Plus visible security and undercover staff inside and out, including female staff. Welfare staff and first aiders are also on hand are they encouraging people to look out for each other as well.
Astoria owner Alistair Ritchie said, 'We have always had customer safety high on our priority, being the first venue in town to use dedicated welfare staff and sniffer dogs. We are also proud to be the only venue in Portsmouth so far to offer our customers anti spiking cups with lids. We want our customers to feel reassured that we continue to provide a safe place to enjoy their evenings, The Astoria works hard to keep the creeps out of the party.Õ
